Ms. Scrimgeour was a Political Science and Law major at the University of Cape Town and came to CCD through the South Africa Washington Ireland Program.

She comes from a farming community just outside the town of Paarl, which is situated in the Western Cape Winelands District. Her surroundings have provided her with the unique opportunity to become intimately connected with cultures, both similar and very different from her own.

Her passion is her country and the people that live there, who drive her to want to work and live there, to make a valuable contribution to their journey as South Africans. She feels that the most exciting thing about being a young South African today is that she is old enough to understand the past but young enough to not have the anger. She loves the idea that she is, by virtue of where South Africa is as a country, able to make a difference, one that can last.

Ms. Scrimgeour was an intern at the Council for a Community of Democracies from June to July, 2007.
